MgA. Tomáš Ibrmajer, Ph.D.

He studied conducting at the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno with the Reader Josef Pančík, Prof. Lubomír Mátl, and the Reader Jan Zbavitel and at the Austrian University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz with the Prof. Johaness Prinz, Franz Jochum and Luca Pfaff. Privately, he studied piano, organ, composition and improvisation. In 2005 he received the doctoral degree at the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts at the postgraduate studies, focusing on the interpretation of the work of T. L. de Victoria. 2003 – 2012 he has been teaching at the Institute of composition and conducting at the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno at the Department of Music. He had been teaching externally at the Philosophical Faculty of Masaryk University in Brno. He is the winner of many prizes from competitions in organ improvisation and interpretation and also the winner of two first prizes from an international composition competition in Gent. Besides the Czech Republic he has given concerts in many European countries (among others in Slovakia, Poland, Germany, Hungary, Austria, Spain, France, Great Britain, Lithuania). As the artistic director of many choral ensembles he is the winner of many awards at Czech as well as international choir festivals. 2004 – 2013 he has been the head conductor and lecturer at the Bělotín singing week in Hranice na Moravě. 2004 – 2012 he has worked as répétiteur and assistant of the conductor in the National Theatre Brno. Since the season 2012 / 2013 he is engaged at the Mainfranken Theatre Würzburg as répétiteur and conductor. In 2013 he took over the leading of the Chamber Orchestra Grombühl (Würzburg).
